At B28 Apartments, we could give you quite a few reasons (28 to be more exact) to choose this location for your stay at the historical center of Porto.

We decided to focus on one simple and straightforward philosophy: this is a home away from home, a small gift to the city that gave us so much when we were growing up as kids and running through its maze of streets with curious eyes and absolute freedom.

We found the building as grown-ups, but decided to maintain it’s essence: a magical gateway to the old Jewish quarter, and at the epicentre of the arts and crafts neighbourhood, which still makes Porto a whimsical destination to this day.

It took a few years to restore the building, but as every work of love proves, when we opened our doors for the first time it was as if nothing had changed and memories had left their imprint on every single angle.

We took the same steps up and down our staircase, a true architectural marvel, as new and old generations had done before.

The apartments are located in a typical bourgeois building from Porto, located in the town’s historic centre, which is classified as World Heritage by UNESCO. In the past, this used to be the old jewish part of porto (Judiaria/Porta do Olival).

The building’s main entrance is located on ‘Rua do Belomonte‘, but the building also has a backdoor on the 3rd floor, through ‘Escadas da Vitória‘ (Victory stairs)— former ‘Escadas da sinagoga‘ (synagoge stairs).

The building’s construction started on the 16th century, however it got expanded in the 19th century. The central spiral staircase and the “lanternin” (skylight), that brings light to the whole building, are clear marks of that time period’s architecture. This building also has an inner patio, that ventilates and illuminates the rear apartments from the 1st and 2nd floor.

The rehabilitation process was performed with extreme care, to prevent damage to the building’s structure and its ancestral characteristics. The main goal was to create modern housing conditions, without destroying the building’s unique characteristics, such as: the amazing spiral staircase, inner patio, the stone arch, the “lanternin” (skylight) or the detailed ornate ceilings.

Our main purpose is to provide our clients with an unique experience. Our clients are travellers who search for a special experience, allied with comfort and quality, while visiting and exploring the city of Porto. We provide our guests with personalized suggestions and ideas, according to their needs and desires, while encouraging their future return to our city. We are sure that any person who visits and enjoys our apartments will not remain indifferent to this exclusive experience.

The studios and the one-bedroom apartments are considerably ample and with superior areas, compared to the other apartments located in the town’s historic centre. All of our apartments have a clean and minimalist decoration, using mostly authentic Portuguese furniture.
